CASE STUDY

Brunt Consulting

A bold but professional digital presence for a 20+ year engineering quality practice.

The brief

Something bold, that stood out from the boring consulting sites it would be seen beside — while still reading as professional enough that a business would take it seriously. Those two pull against each other, and holding both is the whole brief.

The constraint

Engineering quality is a field where trust is the entire product, and trust and personality usually pull against each other on a website. Push the design and it reads as a startup; play it safe and it reads as a template. The other constraint was the material itself: a consulting practice has no product photography and no interface to show, so the page had to be carried by type, colour and structure alone.

What I built

A navy ground with cream cards on it, which is where the seriousness comes from, and a warm amber that only appears where something is meant to be acted on. The cards track the pointer with a directional glow, so the page responds to a reader without ever moving on its own. The process runs as a five-node amber rail — the practice explaining its own method as a sequence rather than as a list of adjectives.

What the client got

A site that reads as a 20+ year practice at a glance and does not look like anybody else in the field. Every service the practice offers now has a page that can be sent on its own, and the process rail answers the question the first meeting used to open with.

All work

The real thing is better than the write-up.

This page is a description of the work. The site itself is the work — open it and have a look around.
